Sales Development Representative (Outbound Phone/Zoom)
The role
Barnett Strategies is looking for an experienced outbound SDR who does their best work on the phone. You will call business buyers on behalf of our enterprise technology clients and book first meetings that our clients’ Sales teams actually hold. The work is remote, US-based, about 35 hours per week.
If you see a gatekeeper as a puzzle rather than a wall, read on. 💪
About Barnett Strategies
Barnett Strategies is a marketing and sales agency that builds pipeline for enterprise technology companies. We run SDR programs, account-based marketing, go-to-market strategy, and outsourced marketing for clients in voice AI, banking and fintech software, energy, and infrastructure. Our tagline is Growth Results, and we mean it: we judge our work by whether our clients’ revenue grows, not by how busy we look.
We are a small senior team, and everyone has a speaking role in client meetings. You will not be a name on a dial report. You will present your own results to the clients you call for.
What you’ll do
- Make high-volume outbound calls to target accounts across two to four client programs at a time, each with its own product, buyer, and industry.
- Open conversations with director- through C-level buyers, find out whether there is real fit (need, timing, authority, budget), and book first meetings with the client’s sales team.
- Navigate gatekeepers, handle objections, and follow referrals to the right decision-maker.
- Log every call, outcome, and next step in the client’s CRM (usually HubSpot) the same day.
- Write a short handoff note for every meeting, so the client’s rep knows why the prospect said yes.
- Confirm meetings, chase no-shows, and reschedule.
- Send light email and LinkedIn follow-up that supports your calls.
- Report back what you hear from buyers: objections, messaging that lands, and list quality, so each program gets better every week.
- Present your results in weekly client status meetings.
What you bring
- 2–3 years in an outbound SDR or BDR role, mostly on the phone, setting appointments with business buyers. Technology cold calling is preferred.
- A track record of booking meetings that you can back with numbers. Bring your best month and explain how you got it.
- Comfort with cold calling at volume, and resilience after the tenth “not interested” of the morning.
- The ability to learn a technical product quickly, well enough to hold a credible three-minute conversation within your first two weeks on a program.
- Clear, concise writing for handoff notes and follow-up.
- Hands-on experience with HubSpot, ZoomInfo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and a calling or dialer tool.
- Based in the US and available during US business hours across time zones.
- Your own reliable computer, high-speed internet, quality headset, and a quiet place to work.
Nice to have
- Agency or multi-client experience: switching between products and buyers in the same week.
- Experience selling into banking and financial services, energy and utilities, engineering and infrastructure, or AI.
- Working knowledge of do-not-call and TCPA calling rules.
How to apply
Email amanda@barnettstrategies.com with the subject line “Outbound SDR,” and include three things:
- Your resume.
- A few sentences on your best month of booked meetings: the number, the buyer, and what you did differently.
- A two-minute voice memo of your cold-call opener for a product you have sold.
